Did you know you can make homemade cleaning products that are just as effective as those you buy at the store? Best of all, they use ingredients that you probably already have in your home. Products like vinegar, baking soda and water are inexpensive and the building blocks of so many homemade cleaning products. Here are some common ones you can make.
General Cleaner and Deodorizer
Among homemade cleaning products, this one is ideal for cleaning kitchen counters and appliances and it’s incredibly easy to make. All you have to do is combine 4 tablespoons of vinegar with 1 quart of warm water. Then pour the solution onto a sponge and get your counters sparkling again.
Carpet Stain Remover
Mix 2 cups of vinegar with 2 cups of water (you can mix any amount as long as it equal parts) and pour into a spray bottle. After spraying, let it sit for a couple of minutes and then clean using a brush or sponge.
Drain Cleaner
Homemade drain cleaners do an outstanding job at keeping your drains unclogged and running well. If your drains are generally in good shape and just need some light maintenance, all you have to do is mix 4 liters of hot water with ½ cup of salt and pour it down the drain. If your drains aren’t draining well, pour ½ cup of baking soda down the drain and ½ cup of vinegar after. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then pour in boiling water to flush away the residue.
Toilet Bowl Cleaner
To make your toilet bowl shine, mix a cup of vinegar with ¼ cup of baking soda and pour mixture into the toilet. Let it sit for a few minutes, scrub with a toilet brush and flush.
